In 1882 Mrujohn Leal founded a private school in Plainfield. Mr. C. D. Wardlaw came in 1911 to work as associate principal, and when Mr. Leal re- tired in 1916, Mr. Wardlaw purchased the Leal School. The name was changed to the W'ardlaw School for Boys. In 1933 the school was moved from Park Avenue to its present site on Central Avenue. However. the nursery section remained in the old building. THE WARDLAW CHOOL CHARLES DIGBY WARDLAW The chapel was built eight years ago in memory of the Wardlaw Alumni who gave their lives in VVorld War II. This addition was made possible by gifts ofthe alumni and friends ofthe school. In the fall of 1952 the junior Study was destroyed by fire. Now it has a new look with green tile floors, a sound absorbing ceiling, and a new fluorescent lighting sys- tem. At the present time the total enrollment of boys in Wardlaw is approximately one hundred and fifty. ,,v pq.,
