A Profitable Party The staffstarted the Portico ball rolling with a successful dance. As we had decided to have padded covers, we sponsored this dance hoping that it would support our efforts. Shown is a small segment of the crowd that came to help fulfill our greatest expectations. It Happens Every Fall The sadistic i?j sophomores were at it again this year, attempting to dream up some dastardly way to initiate the poor freshmen. Witha ravening gleam the relentless sophomore would bestow on some lucky, unsuspecting freshman the task of carrying a few dozen rather large books. If the victim rebelled, thoughts of the seventh period soon per- suaded him. Although the rules were somewhat modified this year, the Fresh- man Day Committee still came up with a few interesting and humorous inno- vations, demonstrated in the gymnasi- um as a diverting assembly program. 1- -'N JoAnn Moeller, Nick Raffaele 13

Our Salesmen Went at It Again- Top Salesman Fred V. Damanda David Petrovits Within our hallowed halls you will discover the iunior artillery of Wappingers. You find, at a second glance, that these insurgent 7th and 8th graders are actually splendid salesmen. Under the supervision of Mr. Damanda, and with the encouragement of the core teachers, they carried on an extremely successful magazine campaign, and in their glory they held a cheerful party. These convincing salesmen topped their 52,700 by over 5300. The top salesmen were a pair of 8th graders from Mrs. Clearwater's home-room. The fortunate two whowon the trip to New York City were David Petrovits, who sold over SI00 worth of magazines, and Lois Meystre, who sold S75 worth. l I MAGAZINE CAPTAINS: Barry Borg, David Riley, Linda Jaycox, Ann Leonard, William Butts, Ronald Smyrski, Meta Van Borstel, Roy Blakely, Joy Muller, Joanne Michalosky, 12
