The students who are fortunate enough to be members of this society are those who are outstanding not only in scholastic ability butalso in character, leader- ship, and service, and have proved that they can meet the ,difficult requirements. Those whoare members will surely never forget the joy and anxiety of thatday when they were inducted, and for those who are not members, there will always be the memory of their pride and happiness for their more fortunate Fellow students. lg' 'I iv 'tiff ' v ,tam . i x 1 L -IQ I up I 7 if-1? :':1 I-3:-T I .AA-Ifffriagafg 'fl - , S635 I, , ,X ms, K' sv V. v , ,I -yi . All of us, in some way, have been associated with the G.O. either by becoming a member or by making use of the various facilities offered by the Organization. Forexample, we have all bought refreshments inthe G.O. store either during the noon hour or at football and basketball games. Most of us have enioyed dancing to the records purchased by the G.O. for use during the students' free time. We also remember the excellent iob done by this organization to keep our campus looking clean and neat atall times. Because of this, we are always proud of the GPPQCTQDCI of our school and its surrounding grounds. 42 Back row: P. Meyers, P. Niessen, N. Henry, D. Lane, D. Hickerson, K. Berg, B. L. Barbato, G. Most important of all, however, is the training we receive in citizenship ecl- ucation. Since we were actually citizens of the school, we learned much about the ways in which a good citizen cooperates with his fellow citizens and in gov- ernmental affairs. We also had actual practice in performing one of the chief duties and privileges of a good citizen by voting for our G.O. officersancl May Queen. Remember the thrill when we first used a Q voting machine? Indeed, our memories of the student government at W.C.S. will remain with us evenafter we leave school, forit is then thatwe shall be citizens of the nation rather than of the school, but the qualities of good citizenship will be the same. 43 HlHlRl'S 0 BUSINESS l , S089 QKVC Qelet BQOO vX9N6sAaW'eXxE,raWm' cvown IS SHS M SSH SSJN be sqm t Him 9X6 YXQAW Q03 Sullw allies 'N ebeliexckiam ' OQYK W 8 1965 X4 ga 6. Since almost all the members were new and inexperienced this year, they had to work hard in order to keep up the high standard made by J. V. squads before them. The duties of the J. V. squad are to promote school spirit, to lead the J. V. Basketball players on to victory, and to provide training for potential Varsity cheerleaders . ln order to keep up with the Varsity squad, the girls have had to practice long hours after school, but they have come out very successfully and are a credit to our school. Long hours of practice have gained for them the best in co-ordination and timing. The enthusiastic responses from the spectators at the games have been their reward. Decked out with new megaphones and a red and blue clown doll as a mas- cot, the girls have been able to incorporate new and original formations into their already perfect cheers. Sammartino, R. Anderson, W. Sedore, C. Byrd, G. Moyer, M. Durkin, T. Ennis, J. Sidoti, E. Weber, K. Berg, I. Cashin. The Wappingers Central School grid team of 1952-53, handicapped by the lack of experienced veterans, displayed unending courage and the will to win. ln the Fall classic of Dutchess County, the W.C.S. Indiansled at the half I4 to 6 but inthe final two periods Arlington scored 20 points to our six and our hopes of the championship ended. Our Junior Varsity team showed great possibilities for a future D.C.S.L. championship club. They lost but one game all season long, it iust happened to be the Arlington game. However, our co-captains, Hank Boldrin and Jim Bowles, brought recognition to us all when theywere chosen as members of the All-County f0GI'l'I - C.F.M.A. Won 14-0 Roosevelt Won 7-0 Beacon Won 6-0 Poughkeepsie Won 7-6 Arlington Lost 0-6 57 A-1ISKll, A-lASKll BACK ROW: L. Straley, L. Dolfinger, L. Russell. Under the guidance of Coach McGovern, our J, V. has developed great potentialities for next year's Varsity. Height, speed, and the ability to work well together have combined to make this season mem- orable. Like the Varsity, this group startled the visiting Cadets and made the night of the Cardinal Farley game a red-letter one. Unfortunately, our deadline prevents comments on the last three games, but we're cheering for you! We expect another D.C. S. L. championship in the future, boys. 'l RAN All lHl Wlll HllMl We'll never forget our W.C.S. track team of '52 undefeated in dual meets last year. Although Wappingers has a handicap of not having a track, we came through and won the Class B County Track meet, breaking two records. Fletcher Bolsover, who did the half-mile in 2.6:4, and Jim Bowles, who threw the shot put 45 ft. l in. were our two champs. Another county champ was Bill Carr, who won the 100 yd. dash for Wappingers in the county meet. W.C.S. still holds the l00 and 220 yd. county records set by a former athlete, Bill Brower. The times were l0:3 and 23:2, respectively. On May IO, l952, the W.C.S. track team entered the Hudson Valley Relays at New Paltz. Every Wappingers relay team placed, coming home with sixteen ribbons and six trophies. 64 WISH lllll Wllll HERE TOP: Mr. Macrini, Leonard Kent, Robert Chatterton, Marcus Jamison, Joseph Garnot, Robert Baptiste, Robert Lavalle, Vice-President Henry Boldrin. Our Who's Who of the sports world are proud to wear the Varsity sweater and insignia, and we honor their prowess.
