After introductory speeches by Mr. Wells, Miss Gurney, and pres- ent members to welcome the new members and to explain the aims of the Honor Society, seven seniors and three juniors were inducted into our Dutchess Chapter, Number 2449, of the National Honor Society. Although we had lost several former members at graduation, this ceremony raised our total membership to twenty, with a membership of seventeen seniors making a new record here. After the candle- light ceremony Mr. Kegan administered the oath of membership to the successful candi- dates. At the first meetingb the group elected officers: jean Savage, President, Paul Hof, Vice- President, Manfred Hochmuth, Secretary, and Faythe Briggs, Treasurer. According to tradi- tion, the Honor Society sponsored the annual Valentine Dance on February 16. The corona- tion of the King and Queen of Hearts was one of the main features of this event. Although our society will lose seventeen seniors this year, we are looking forward to welcoming the incoming members, to be chosen from the present junior and sophomore classes.
