It ii unurual to find .ro much ability in one .fmall person. Class History Now that we are Seniors, the time has come for us to look back on all the activities in which we have partic- ipated. Few of us will ever forget our Freshman Day initia- tion into High School. Led by Phyllis Wilkin, our class could boast of a star varsity basketball player, two cheer- leaders, and a twirler, besides winning the junior League Intramural Award. Mickey Dorsey was a huge success in the operetta, The Gondoliersf' In 1949, with Phyllis reelected as class president, we prepared and carried out a gruesome Freshman Day. We participated in every activity in school. johnny Foster and Pete Sanfilippo played on the varsity basketball team, while Christina Visentin and Lucille D'Ambrosio became varsity cheerleaders. For his backstage work, Chuck Nord became a member of the National Thespian Society. We were well represented in the band, chorus, stage crew, and the Wap- flerian. In 1950 we became upperclassmen. With joe Negler as our class president, we had the most successful junior Prom in the history of Wappingers Central School. Our class showed its scholastic ability by having ten of its mem- bers inducted into the National Honor Society. They were: Morgan Cobb, jeanne Feddern, Shirley Hamilton, Lillian Hanlin, Paul Hof, Dorothy Lent, Charlotte Mohnach, Robert Russo, jean Savage, and William Tanner. Immediately after New Year's the juniors became the proud owners of their class rings. Moving Up Day was our day since we were awarded the editorships of the following year's Porlico and Wappertian. Now we are Seniors and have elected Pete Sanfilippo as our President. Dorothy Lent is G. O. President, Roberta White is Editor-in1Chief of the Portico, and Lillian Hanlin is Editor-in-Chief of the Wapperian. They took over their respective duties with the help of their staffs. Riki Gordon and Nile Barcalow were cast in the leading roles of our Senior Play, john Loves Mary. They became solid hits with their romantic love scenes. Seven more Seniors were inducted into the Honor Society: Carol Norcross, jean Boehm, Christina Visentin, Roberta White, Lucille D'Am- brosio, I-'aythe Briggs, Manfred Hockmuth. Boys such as Rod Darby, johnny Foster, Donald Smith, and Chee-Chee Versace helped W. C. S. football team to beat our arch- rival, Arlington, for the second year in a row. just before Christmas, George Martin joined our class and became a star basketball player. Twenty seniors made Honors for three and one-half years. Among our dances, we sponsored a Masquerade Dance and a Sadie Hawkins square dance, both of which were unusual successes. Now we are looking forward to Commencement Exer- cises for this is the night when we shall walk through the doors of Wappingers Central School into the wide, wide world.
