Wdataw Moore and Paula Edwards. In the eighth grade Mrs. Phillips replaced Miss Bissell. In the fall of 1951 we entered high school. The big event of the year was being initiated. Britton Willits joined the class in the middle of the year, and Sharon Hammond at the first. In our sophomore year we initiated the freshmen and some of us served as waiters and waitresses at the junior- senior banquet. We were by now be- ginning to take our places in the many school activities. Being upper classmen in our junior year, we found our schedules much busier. On November 18th we gave our class play, Beauty and the Beef. That night was a doubly eventful night for one of our classmates, Marcia I-lartsock. She had a part in the play and after the play eloped. During our junior year we went on the history trip to Illinois. We visited Dixon Mounds, New Salem State Park, I..incoln's Tomb, I..incoln's home, and the Illinois State Capitol and museum. The high light of our junior year was the junior-senior banquet and all- night prom. We all felt very grown-up in our formals and new suits and ties. Durincg the summer between our junior an senior years we were terribly saddened by the accidental death of one of our classmates, Warren Asher. In the fall of 1954 we had at last reached the last rung on the ladder-- we were now seniors. We realized our school years were nearing an end. During our senior year we gained the last o our graduating class of 34, Vonnie Charbonneaux. Some ot the major activities of the senior year were our magazine sale, our class trip to Chicago, the class play, Love Your Neig bor, the junior-senior banquet and prom, and getting ready for graduation. As we filed from the auditorium following commencement, we were struck with the realization that our high school days were really over. We feel that we owe much credit to all the teachers we have had over the past 13 years. Looking back over these years we recall them as very happy ones and we are looking forward to our uture years. - I l
