Class officers were: President, Jim Bell; Vice-President, Shirley Arteman; Secretary-Treasurer, Lora Lee Laiser; Reporter, Betty Mearida; Sponsor, Miss Reidner. Cheerleaders were: Lora Lee Laiser and Betty Mearida. Those who didn’t return for the Jolly Junior year were: Bill Kurtz, Lloyd Mollet, Kathryn Bray, Lora Lee Laiser, Betty Mearida, and Nita Barnhill. We gained Norma Wilson, Bill Peters and J. D. White. Class officers were: President, Jim Bell; Vice-President, Shirley Arteman; Secretary-Treasurer, Jackie Karr; Reporter, Shirley Arteman. Sponsors were: Miss Swafford, and Mr. Schettler. • Our junior year we had a magazine sale to make money. The high sales girl was Lora Lee Laiser. The losers gave the winners a chili supper and took them to a movie in Clinton. The theme of our Junior-Senior banquet-prom was Moonlight and Roses. Our junior play Skidding” was great fun. After our play the cast was given a party by the sponsors and our director. During our last year our class remained the same with the exception of Bill, Gene, and Melvin who went into the service. Our class officers were: President, Dorothy Campbell; Vice-President, Jim Bell; Secretary-Treasurer, Bessie Wilson. Sponsors were Miss Volkers, and Mr. Schettler. This has been a very busy and exciting year. We sold advertising for the Annual and collected money for Christmas candy. In November we had a very successful play, What A Family. In January a chili supper added a few dollars to our treasury. We were happy to have Dorothy Campbell chosen as D.A.R. winner. We are proud to be graduating from W.C.H.S. this year. We shall never forget our happy times. JIMMIE BELL Basketball, Varsity 1, 2, 3,4; Baseball 1,2,3,4;F.F. Signed by the said Senior Class of 1955 and by them declared to be the authentic Last Will and Testament of people who soon will not be all here, and attested by us witnesses thereto, in the presence of each other, at Wapella, Illinois, this 18th day of May, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fifty five. Bessie Wilson Pat Gaherty class ppophecy Here it is 1965, and Ronald Fryman has taken a month vacation from his work in California to visit his senior classmates. Since he had to travel the world around he went in his SUPER SAUCER. To begin with he flew to Hawaii where he saw Jackie Karr and her husband Gene O’Daffer, a former classmate also. They were very happy with their family of four children. Ronnie would like to have stayed a day or two and seen die island better but decided not to delay the trip. The next stop was in Hong Kong where he saw Bessie Wilson serving chop suey to her restaurant customers. So he went in and had lunch. He was surprised to learn that she was married to a Chinaman and had twins. Well, Ronnie was on his way again and his next stop was Paris. And low and behold, there he saw Duckey and Pat, the now famous French fashion designers. While he was there, they designed him a pair of pink pants and a pink jacket. Off he went again; and that time the stop was on Guernsey Island, where Ronnie saw Dorothy Campbell and her world famous Guernsey herd. The dairy business was doing very well, and Dorothy and her family were fine also. Since the time went so fast, Ronnie decided to head back to the United States and his first stop was New York. After the long flight he was hungry, so he stopped at the Broadway Palace and whom did he meet but Dorothy Sumpter. She was head waitress and really making the dough. Say, that class has really made great progress. After servicing the SAUCER, Ronnie was on his way to Kansas City where he saw Norma Wilson who is private secretary to the president of Inter-Collegiate Press. Norma really has a nice job and enjoys her work very much. Well, it was so long” to Norma and off to Kentucky to see Bob Russell who is a guard at Fort Knox. He certainly got in the money business. Bob and his family of four were very happy and wouldn’t leave Kentucky for anything. As Ronnie flew over Arkansas on Saturday, he decided to stop over night. On Sunday he thought it would be nice to go to church. When he walked in, who should greet him but J. D. White, the minister. This was surely a pleasant surprise to Ronnie. After the week-end rest Ronnie was off to Texas. As he flew over a ranch he saw a big sign which read Schumaker’s Registered Herefords.” Sinoe he didn’t want to miss seeing any of his classmates, Ronnie landed at the nearest airfield and took a 1965 Ford back to the ranch. He surely was glad to see Roland, his wife, and six children -- all boys. He was also glad to hear too that Roland had three oil wells. Say, he hasn’t done bad in this world. As Ronnie left Texas he headed for Oklahoma City. As he was walking down Oklahoma Avenue whom did he see but Jim Bell. He had changed a little as he had put on a little weight; in fact, he reminded Ronnie of their high school Agriculture teacher, Mr. Schettler. Jim was Agriculture teacher at the high school in Oklahoma City and was married and had four children --two girls and two boys. Since this was the last week of his vacation, Ronnie stopped by his old home town of Wapella before he went back to California. He drove out to see his folks and learned that David Wilson was farming the neighboring farm. He was doing quite well with his family and his farm work. While in Wapella Ronnie decided to look up our senior sponsors Miss Volkers and Mr. Schettler. Miss Volkers was still teaching English but was married and they were living in a brick bungalow in the new addition of Wapella. Mr. Schettler and his family were just fine. Mr. Schettler was just about the same as he always was except he had a few wrinkles and his hair was getting a little gray and thinner in spots. Well, all vacations have to end, so home Ronnie went to California. Ronnie stopped at Denver to refuel and check the SAUCER. Since it took some time for this to be done Ronnie went to the afternoon performance of ROMEO AND JULIET. The curtain went up and who should be Romeo but his former classmate George Moore and his leading lady, Carita Veteto. After this surprising shock Ronnie returned to the SAUCER and flew home to his lovely wife in San Francisco.
