The F.F.A. Chaprer irself was seleclred for second place honors in rhe sla+e's Bes+ Chaprer Con+es+ and received a silver emblem award on 'rhe narional level. Early in l'he fall lhe group senl' lwo ol ils members, Norman l-lilberl, and Darrell Schoonover, lo fhe Nalional F.F.A. Convenlion in Kansas Ciiy, Missouri. Anorher accomplishmenr of lhe Chapler was 'rhe sponsoring of Hs banquel on March I4, l959. Many F.F.A. members were presenled awards a+ This evenl for rheir pasl year's acrivilies in aqricullure. The Chapler, advised by Blaine l-lardy, also held a local lar-slock show, prepared a boolh and made several enfries in rhe Ceniral Washingron Fair, sponsored a parliamenrary procedure Team conresr, gol foqerher a Chrisr- mas package 'For a needy family, had irs annual Jrurkey raffle, pul on a pep assembly, and carried on irs yearly inifiafion. PEP CLUB STIMULATES SCHOOL SPIRIT AT pep assemblies and baskeTball games during The pasT season, I was nearly deafened someTimes by The yelling of my ever-TaiThTul handmaidens, The Pep Club girls. They always occupied The same block oT seaTs in The bleachers and yelled enTorce, assisTing The cheer leaders and song leaders, Thereby sTimulaTing The school spiriT, oT which I am The symbol. Perhaps The biggesT underTalcing oT This group was iTs sponsoring oT The annual Homecoming, OcTober 3l, This began wiTh a pep rally in TronT oT The school and ended wiTh The dance in The caTeTorium. AnoTher service The group perTormed was ThaT oT hosTing aT The Lions Club BanqueT. ln addiTion, They had a car TloaT in The WapaTo l-iarvesT FesTival Parade SepTember 2, and sponsored a pep assembly, during which They iniTiaTed Their new members. The group, under The advice oT Mrs. ShaTTuclc. Tinanced iTs operaTions by selling apples and shakers aT games and by having a balceesale in Bower's MarkeT and a candy sale aT The high school.
