MOTIVATE SPORTS VICTORIES Much of lhe molivalion for our sporls viclories lhis year was supplied by lhe pep assemblies held each Friday before qfimem. Early in lhe lall The wealher permilled These 'lo be held oulside in 'rhe courlyards during lhe lasl lilleen minules ol school. I liked lhis lhe besl because lhe briqhl sunshine and lhe lac? lhaf school was over lor Jrhe day made everybody feel more cheerful. Ol course, ihe inside assemblies had lheir allraclions, loo, wilh a :lil in nearly every one. Somelimes a club would be in charqe of lhe program and sornelimes a class. By ihe end of lhe season almosl every orqanizalion in school had spon- sored one or more ol lhese assemblies, A few ol lhe ones lhaf I especially liked were The chorus and Red Devil assemblies, in which oddly dressed boys perl formed lhe can-can and sonqleader rouiines, lhe Pep Club inilifilion, which called on lhe new members lo play a game of loolball and enierlain wilh hula hoops, The G.Px.A. assem' blien, one lealurinq Mr. Fllis dressed as a wilch, and lhe olher an inilialion, and finally lhe band proqram, slarring Mr. Dielrich and Ivlr. Dorr as broom packinq direclors. lvlenlioninq lhe band reminds me 'fhal a special lribule is due lhem, as well as lhe Pep Club, sono and cheerleaders, all of whom offended every assembly and led +he sludenl body in ils cry lor viclory. .
