The Clctss of l943 respectfully dedlccxtes th1s edltlon ot the Ret rospect to all those former stu dents ot Blume Hrqh School who ore now m the armed servrce of our country 5 As We look around us in our daily life we can find many things that are dear to us and that we would not sacrifice at any price In enumerating these many valu able things that We possess by living in a country which is founded on democracy we find the schools to be one ot greatest importance Our own Blume High School like all other schools in our country is based on the democratic Way of lite A democracy is a government which is the people Blume High School carries out this policy tor example we have a School Council in which each class is repre sented There are also all the other school organizations which are organized on democratic prmciples their ofti cers are from the student body and they are chosen by vote In Blume High School everyone is given equal oppor tumties and a chance to succeed We possess the right to carry on discussions in an intelligent way We may choose areas ot study consistent with our likes and our abilities Within those areas we can choose the subiects which will help us develop most An education is a very important factor in making and keeplng a denaocracy That IS why the schools ot today are so very important None ot us wants to see the schools that We go to or dia go to vanish and with them their democratic ways This is why we must be on the victorious side in the world conflict so that democracy may survive and schools may continue to be democratic.
