During the school year, the various sports activities such as football, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling also invite many avid fans. Warriors show spirit in other ways. too. The week before Homecoming is spirit week On each day. students are supposed to wear the proper outfits. For example: if it is crazy hat day, each student ideally wears some type of zany hat An exceedingly large amount of students do wear the right outfit of the day Many students pick our infamous pep ral- lies to show their spirit. At each pep rally, teachers, acting as judges, pick which class has yelled loudest At the end of the year, the class who has won the most pep rallies wins the spirit award Need I remind anyone that this year's seniors, the class of 1983, are the defending champions? Another way of showing school spirit is by buying spirit ribbons. They go on sale before each football and basketball game by the student council. The proceeds are used by Wando’s student council to aid in some school project. So remember, before each game, see a student council member and support Wando by buying a spirit ribbon. 8 Student tile

AUGUST 30, 1982 E? — ugust 30, 1982, marked the beginning of a new school year for Wando — its tenth anniversary. To many students, it marked the end of a seemingly short sum- mer break and the start of a long school year ahead. The first real sign of school was picking up books. Warriors were given the week of August 16-20 to pick up books, with seniors, of course, receiving theirs first. In addition to receiving books, we also got a first-hand look at our schedules and teachers. During the day, it was not uncommon to hear a student say, Oh no!!! Look whom I got for math . The next sure sign of school was the Sertoma Classic. This year we played Bonds Wilson. The Warrior offense played long and hard, and our defense held Bonds Wilson to only one touchdown in our 7 to 0 loss. Being held on the twenty-seventh of August, this was a foreboding event pointing to that inevi- table day ahead; the first day of school was almost upon us. 1.
