Mr. John Graham Altman is Chairman of the Charleston County School District Board. Quentin L. Scott Principal B.S. Degree — Florida State Univ. Ed.S. Degree — The Citadel The “Mainstream” Periodical said this of Mr. Scott: Quality of instruction is most im- portant as Mr. Scott increases classroom visits and spends more time with students by teaching occassional classes. His view of students is that they are “well-mannered, well-dressed, friendly and well-behaved.” Improvements he would like to see are “more autonomy at the building level, to- getherness among the faculty and staff, and positive goals that effect change within a reasonable time frame.” till «7 fegl 1 h a | k A Jennings Austin, Assistant Principal B.S. We as students gain the knowledge and attitudes needed to be responsible citi- zens, the skills for earning a living and leading a useful and rewarding life, and the appre- ciation of ideals inherited from our past generations. In addition to classroom teaching the faculty is in- volved in the school’s on going activities by advising clubs, sponsoring events, and coach- ing our teams. For so many, hours are spent more at school than at home. We appreciate their dedication to WHS and to their noble profession. The Legend Staff surveyed our teachers and found their personal hobbies quite wide- spread and interesting. Read- ing. cooking, baking, and cross stitching led the surveys top totals. Other hobbies of note were running, bridge, tennis, skating, singing, painting. flowers, music, cats, skiing, sailing, sewing;, bike riding, camping, writing, collecting, swimming, t.v., golf, foot- ball, decorating, physical fitness, crafts, and ceramics. McDermott The Legend Presents ... The Class Of 1982 After three years of waiting for Senior privileges, the class of '82 found many changes. The Charleston County School Board felt that these privileges should be limited. One privilege taken away was the open campus for lunch. Class ranking was changed. Only the academic courses would be counted. For many people this change meant a drop in their average. Although these alternations caused much controversy, they were not nearly as severe as the cutbacks encountered by the class of ’77-78. That year there were absolutely no Senior privileges. Despite these changes the Senior class enjoyed their last year. They are sure to look back on their last four years at Wando with many warm and some funny memories — Jr.-Sr. picnic, Sr. Trip, and selling elevator passes and giving incoming freshman a hard time. 1982 Senior Committee Back row: Henry Ligon, Deneen Middleton. great way to start off high school! This year’s Freshmen Class has been one of the best Wando has had. In our first year we have had the opportunity to meet some fantastic Sophomores, Ju- niors, and Seniors and have bought all kinds of elevator passes. If what they say about strength in numbers is true, then the Freshmen should be the strongest at Wando. We Freshmen out- number all other classes with 418 + students. Powder Puff Foot- ball this year was an event to remember. The fighting Freshmen girls, with help from the Seniors, beat the Sophomores and Juniors 30-22. We would just like to thank the faculty and fellow students who have made our Freshmen year the best ever.
