EPILOGUE Together we face the closing pages of our high school days as the end of our Senior Year draws near. Though it may be true that, after this year, we will go on our separate paths of adult life, we will still remain together in our memories of these wonderful years at Wampee. We have seen Wampee change and prosper during our high school career. New educational equipment has been added, new trophies have been added to our trophy case, and we have been accepted into the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. Along with these changes will forever remain familiar sightsg Seniors pulling rank at the lunchline and water- fountains, smoking area pranks, and young lovers on the front lawn and by hall radiators. When we leave, new faces will take our places and the cycle of school life will keep going on. Always, forever, will remain the honor and pride for our school. That same honor and pride with which we together prepare to leave.

Mr. David Stoney, Chairman of S.C. State Commission River High School on the schools receiving accreditation of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, congratu- from Sout ern Association. lating Mr. Henry L. Ingram, Principal of Wampee-Little AIMS OF THE SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION The Southern Region has been characterized by a strong interest in education and by the belief that education should be continuously concerned with the changing needs of its people. The South- ern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools was organized to improve educational conditions in the South and bring about close relationships between schools and colleges. The Charter of the Southern Association places final responsibility for developing standards for, and the accrediting of, secondary schools on the Commission of Secondary Schools and its Delegate Assembly. The Commission takes the position that the chief purpose of accreditation should be the stimulation of improvement in the schools through varied means of which the enforcement of minimum standards is only one. Efhirts of members of the Commission, therefore, primarily are directed to- ward the development of standards and accreditation procedures which it is assumed will contribute to the continuous improvements of schools. With the accelerating nature of change in our culture today, this purpose partakes of a sense of urgency and would seem to suggest major focus on the critical areas of professional staff improvement and full uti- lization of staff and physical facilities. In keeping with the above statements, NVampee- Little River High School proudly accepts its mem- bership in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, being ever mindful of the responsibilities incurred by this acceptance. Theretbre, we pledge our united efforts to continuous improvements of the schools program, so that the needs of the stu- dents and the community can be more adequately met. 79
