The highlight of the year in Hi-Y is the Father-Son Banquet in the spring. They sponsor the Snowball, Pa, Ma, and Me Party, an all-school assembly, Twirp Week, tray favors for hospital, and F.H.A. Week. The F.H.A. encourages girls to par- ticipate in activities and helped them gain leadership ability through degree work. A degree is an award attained by doing a specified number of proiects planned , to improve the girl through greater par- ticipation in home, school, and commu- nity activities. Interest in degrees has grown steadily, with more than one- fourth of the members working for de- grees this year, and all members being encouraged to do so. Not everyone re- ceives a degree, but each girl who strives to reach the goals she has set, has grown steadily toward self-improvement. Y -TEENS One of the busiest organizations in school is the Y-Teens. The two meet- ings held each month consisted of such types as religious, recreational or small committee meetings. The Y-Teens spon- sored a Father-Daughter Banquet, Mother-Daughter Tea, Christmas bas- kets, and the Easter assembly. Con- tributing to charities was another proi- ect of this organization. Many other J activities were carried out iointly with the Hi-Y, such as running the conces- sion stands at the football and basket- ball games. .
