ADMINISTRATION AND CLASSES dl ' mf' X ,gl ll ,, A -. v Office Secretary, Miss Mable Mitchell, is getting ready to make announcements over the communications system. The Board Members, Mr. Abe Eddy, Mr. Bob Kersey, and Mr. Verlon Fecht, share a minute of relaxation. 79' Mr. Saffell always has a lot of work to do. aQTs's This year W. R. H. S. welcomed our new principal, Mr. Thomas F. Saffell. Principal Saffell found his time taken up by many activities as he greeted new students, ex- plained new procedures, crowned queens, signed checks, and substituted for absent faculty members by taking over classes. With the combined efforts of Miss Mitchell, the school board, and Mr. Saffell the school year was a big success. W. R. H. S. always has a group of well-qualified teachers and this year was no exception. There were seven new teachers and they soon ad- iusted to the routine. The faculty suffered with us through our dreary days and also suf- fered during our gay days. They managed, somehow, to see their way through all the problems and came through with flying colors. MR. V Vwsgg, WA - KAW STAFF This year, ten Seniors planned the i956-57 yearbook with the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Mary Ardis Rucas. We tried to construct a plan of pic- tures, as Well as words, which would keep the memories of this school year from becoming dim with the passing of time. When Sharon Sackrider and Avis Guilliams finished school at the end of the first semester, their duties were handled by Jackie Downey as editor, and Jean Hecker as business manager. They sponsor the Snowball, Pa, Ma, and Me Party, an all-school assembly, Twirp Week, tray favors for hospital, and F.H.A. Week. The F.H.A. encourages girls to par- ticipate in activities and helped them gain leadership ability through degree work. A degree is an award attained by doing a specified number of proiects planned , to improve the girl through greater par- ticipation in home, school, and commu- nity activities. Interest in degrees has grown steadily, with more than one- fourth of the members working for de- grees this year, and all members being encouraged to do so. Not everyone re- ceives a degree, but each girl who strives to reach the goals she has set, has grown steadily toward self-improvement.
