E i'111H1f.' Class Histor itil K CHAPTER I In September 1923 about fifty students registered at Wamego High School as Freshmen. We Went about our work and to our classes cautiously and warily but not timidly. Mr. C. S. Wood was give to us for a Sponsor but we were rather independent and did not always ask his opinion on anything before any preparations were made. Our officers for the first year were chosen at the second election. They were Lyle Brown, presidentg Robert Pruitt, vice-President, Elaine Mansfield, sec- retary, and Mary Ella Doyle, treasurer. We started out on the right foot this first year by contributing several of our members to the football, basketball and track teams and by having our musical people in the glee clubs and the orchestra. We had a picnic early in the year, gave a class Halloween party at Stewart's gym, and were invited by Irene Edwards to her home for a party. Our first year at High School was closed by hav- ing another picnic. CHAPTER I1 Being somewhat civilized after a hectic year, we came back the next fall as dignified Sophomores under the leadership of De McAninch President: Robert Pruitt, Vice-President, Ruthella Bennett, Secretaryg Irene Edwards, Treasurerg and Mr. Wood, Sponsor. We still continued to hold our positions gained in the athletic and music departments the previous year. Several events, such as picnics and parties, were put on again this year, but the outstanding' event of our career at this point was the Sophomore-Football banquet which was given in December.

E V'1K1 .'lC l mfrf Q CHAPTER III We entered W. H. S.'s doors in September of '25 somewhat dim- inished in members but elated at the thoughts of being upper-class- men at last and of the prospect of having smooth going again after the troubled weeks of our Sophomore period. We chose as our guides, Rob- ert Pruitt as President, Carl Cord, vice-presidentg Ruthella Bennett as Secretaryg and Virginia Prunty as Treasurer. They' were aided in their work as leaders by our Sponsors Miss Biscoe fnow Mrs. Gene Larson of Wamego! and Miss Couture Know Mrs. Charles Zabel, Jr., of Westmore- land.J Near the close of this year our President moved to Frankfort, so Carl Cord became president. The milestones of our Junior year were the Junior Play, Back to the Farm, and the Junior-Senior banquet. CHAPTER IV The beginning of the school year of 1926 found us being ad- dressed as Seniors We chose Dorothy Craig as President, Bruce Tay- lor as Vice-President, and Ruthella Bennett as Secretary-Treasurer. Miss Carter and Mr. Kammeyer were our sponsors, and with their and Mr. Bower's help, we started work on an annual which we had decided to publish asa memorial of our sojourn in Wamego High School. At Halloween we took enough time off our studies to give our- selves a party in Fischer's Hall. Several seniors gave part of their time outside of school to helping W. H. S., in athletics, music and debate: and to taking part in the High School play, Aaron Slick of Punkin Creek and the.Senior play, Professor Pepp. Our schedule was well filled near the end of the year., First came the banquet given by the Juniors in our honor, and then Baccalaureate and Class Night. After those came Commencement, which closed the High School story of our group of thirty Seniors. EIZSYSZQIJVI 'i' ' 'l E
