E i'111H1f.' Class Histor itil K CHAPTER I In September 1923 about fifty students registered at Wamego High School as Freshmen. We Went about our work and to our classes cautiously and warily but not timidly. Mr. C. S. Wood was give to us for a Sponsor but we were rather independent and did not always ask his opinion on anything before any preparations were made. Our officers for the first year were chosen at the second election. They were Lyle Brown, presidentg Robert Pruitt, vice-President, Elaine Mansfield, sec- retary, and Mary Ella Doyle, treasurer. We started out on the right foot this first year by contributing several of our members to the football, basketball and track teams and by having our musical people in the glee clubs and the orchestra. We had a picnic early in the year, gave a class Halloween party at Stewart's gym, and were invited by Irene Edwards to her home for a party. Our first year at High School was closed by hav- ing another picnic. CHAPTER I1 Being somewhat civilized after a hectic year, we came back the next fall as dignified Sophomores under the leadership of De McAninch President: Robert Pruitt, Vice-President, Ruthella Bennett, Secretaryg Irene Edwards, Treasurerg and Mr. Wood, Sponsor. We still continued to hold our positions gained in the athletic and music departments the previous year. Several events, such as picnics and parties, were put on again this year, but the outstanding' event of our career at this point was the Sophomore-Football banquet which was given in December.
