As an alleviation to Houston's hectic traf- fic, Mayor Whitmire has reinstated the contra-flow plan for the city's ad- joining highways. The Houston Gamblers have offered the city's sports fans an alternative to the Oilers. An added attrac- tion for summer fun is Water World. Located next to Astroworld, it pro- vides an alternative to Galveston's beaches. if lf... ,, Local At Waltrip many things have also changed. Halftime continues to be an improving tradition as the groups participating make changes for the better. The Imperial Guard, the school's former drill team, is now the Rambling Roses, a dance and high- kick team. The Silks, Waltrip's Flag Corps, stepped up their appearance with flashy new uniforms and flags. After many years of ups-and-downs, the Roaring Red Ram Band is back on top with a second place trophy in the Battle of the Bands. fcontinuedj
