Dome games excite Ram fans This year the varsity Rams 1984 football season began and ended in the Astrodome. Many area high schools never receive the chance to get to play there, but it has become an annual event for the Rams. This was the third year in a row that Waltrip has gone on to district play, which really shows how much dedication and hard work were put into it by our loyal coaching staff and determined players. Waltrip earned their play-off spot by going undefeated in all of District 19-5A. This, in turn, made the Rams 19-5A District Champs for three years in a row. At the dome we challenged the Sterling Raiders, who were classified as the second place team in their district. Our spirits then rose and our hopes became highg however, we fell short in points despite a good game played by the MIGHTY RAMS! Though we were defeated and lost the chance to con- tinue in the play-offs, we are proud of our varsity football team's 1984 season. 28 f Student Life

Waltrip has a winning tradition Events that repeat every year and become special occasions form our traditions. Our football team has been undefeated District Champs of district 19-5A for three years and counting. Playing at least one game a season at the Astrodome has become almost a custom with our football teams, too. Spirit is high here at Waltrip and we are proud to be noted for our game attendance and lively crowds. Something always happens at Waltrip and we are sure to notice it since we spend five days a week, seven hours a day, and four years of our lives at school. Some students spend more of their time at school due to extracurricular activities than others. The Cheerleaders and Ramhandlers stay late in the eve- nings during football season to prepare for all football games and pep rallies. The football players spend day after day practicing the plays that made them District Champs, and the Roses spend long hours during and after school prac- ticing for halftime performances. Many clubs also meet before and after school. Our activities at school have enabled us to develop friendships and form lasting memories. Student Life f 27
