Court festivities highlight halftime Tradition Changes: This year Waltrip celebrated its 25th Homecoming in a special way. Football alumni returned to the scene of earlier triumphs, Delmar Stadium, to watch the Rams take on the Spartans. Tradition changed somewhat this year by having not only a Homecoming Queen, but also a King. The guys felt the time had come for equal representa- tion and decided this was the year for change. Seventeen boys were on the ballot. The king and queen were an- nounced at halftimeg Monica Fontenet and Chris Limbrick were crowned. In ,Bu N , ,, - - ras Thursday, school ended early, not because of the students' choice, but because of the rainy weather. However, we returned three hours later to hang the signs we painted previous to this week. While we were hanging the signs, all streets bound- ing the school flooded, but this did not DAMPEN our spirits! Friday morning students arrived decked out in their red and gray to support the Rams! A pep rally was held in the auditorium in order to an- nounce the top seven finalists for both Homecoming King and Queen. Then several of the Cheerleaders, Ramhandlers, and Class Officers carried the spirit chains across the stage. The spirit chains are an annual contest to see which class has the most spirit based on donations by class members. In the spirit of tradi- tion, the Seniors won again! Student Life 17
