Parent - Crusher Assvciafian Since the Waltrip Parent-Teacher Asso- ciation's organization in 1960, the group has worked diligently to improve the relations be- tween parents and teachers. Waltrip High School has benefitted in many ways by having such an active group of supporters. Students have profited by partici- pating in many programs the P-TA has pre- sented. Students, too, have enjoyed the comfort of the Library which was air-conditioned by the P-TA, The organization entertains the teachers with a coffee during the Christmas holiday season. Since much college writing is ba-sed on reading, those in the department are trying to improve writing standards in the form, content, and organization of themes. Students in the English department are encouraged to enter essay contests, such as those sponsored by the Radcliffe Club and the'Samuel Sorrell and Ann Poage Chapters of the D.A.R.
