Each with a unique personality Each with virtues Each with a future Some of our new found friends made us laugh, Some made us cry Some brought with them a helpful hand and an open mind. In our hearts we shall treasure each special moment shared with them. We'll all remember some little piece of advice, some special song, or some little joke we've shared. Each of our friends will now move on, leaving their echoing laughter fading from the hallways. Now, we lock up our memories and wish the Class of ‘89 the best of luck for the years that lie ahead. The Spartan Staff of ‘89 has chosen Mr. Neil Tracy as Teacher of the Year. Mr. Tracy has been teaching for 22 years, here and at McLeansboro. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s from SIU at Carbondale, both in botany. Mr. Tracy lives in McLeansboro with his wife Rita, son Todd and daughter Kisha. He enjoys traveling with his family, reading, writing, and nature study and he counts fishing, hunting and antique collecting among his hobbies. His favorites include Chinese food, the book Leaves of Grass, and the movie ‘‘Lost Horizon.’’ Mr. Tracy feels that the most difficult thing about teaching is “‘convincing people that the number one priority of education is to learn.’’ The best thing about teaching is undoubtedly ‘having students come back and tell me | was right.’’ Mr. Tracy felt he was drawn to teaching and that it was what he is best able to do. (I’m sure many Waltonville students would agree.) His advice to students is ‘l am only here for one purpose and that is to teach you about what | Know. If you imagine me in any other light, then perhaps that’s all it is, imagination.’’ Mr. Neil Tracy contributes much every day to the education and lives of Waltonville students. Con- gratulations and thanks, Mr. Tracy. — The ‘89 Spartan Staff SPARTAN STAFF ‘89 Senior Sabra Shepard — Editor Juniors Helen Kabat Susan Morss Susan Philp Susan Wagner Beth Russell Julie Copple Casey Hampton Cindy Merda Gretchen Lamke Advisor Mr. Bob Frakes The 1989 yearbook consists of 104 pages.
