We the Spartan Yearbook Staff of 87, are proud to announce Ms. Imogene Tice as Teacher-of-the- Year. She has been teaching for 22 years: 3 at Woodlawn and 19 at Waltonville. Her educational background consists of an equivalent to an Associate’s degree; and a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in Education from SIU in Carbondale. Why did she go into teaching? She explains she always wanted a better education. After her sons were out on their own, she decided to pursue a career. Looking for something to do with her education, she chose teaching. She comments the most difficult thing about teaching is discipline. Her worst teaching experience was when Mr. Jenkins sat in one of her English classes for a state evaluation. She said, ‘‘l know Julius Caesar front and back, but! got so nervous | drew a blank.” She loves to play golf and is currently a member of the Indian Hills Golf Club in Mt. Vernon. Other hob- bies include reading and cross-word puzzles. Ever wonder why her car is so red? The reason being, it’s her favorite color! Her favorite foods are pizza and anything spicy. In general Ms. Tice has contributed a great deal to the education of Waltonville students. She has helped us become the leaders of tomorrow. Thank you and congratulations, Ms. Tice. Sincerely, Spartan Yearbook Staff of ’87 = Ni eacher of the Year
