Colleen Shields MRS. COLLEEN SHIELDS When one thinks of Walton-Verona High School, many things come to mind: small classes, close friends, high academic standards, and competitive athletes. But when one thinks of the people at Walton-Verona, one name stands out above the rest: MRS. COLLEEN SHIELDS. Mrs. Shields, a University of Louisville graduate, is not only a member of the faculty, but is a former student at Walton-Verona and a former member of the Walton-Verona Board of Education. As a student she was a cheerleader, senior class president, and valedictorian of her class, and as a faculty member she is very active as chairman of the Math department, a member of the governing committee of the Walton-Verona Education Association, and Beta Club sponsor. As a teacher, she is dedicated, caring, fair, and patient, which resulted in her being named 1986 Teacher of the Year. A life-time resident of Walton, she is married to A.C. “Tick Shields and has one son, Val. Mrs. Shields is truly Walton-Verona, and for this reason, the yearbook staff takes pride in dedicating the 1985-86 yearbook to MRS. COLLEEN SHIELDS.
