Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1984 volume:

The Dawn 1984 Walton-Verona High School School Road Walton, Kentucky 41094 Dedication Victor Carpenter (1924-1983) Vic, as he was known by faculty and students alike was a true and honest man. Quiet, loyal, and eternally friendly, Vic represented the qualities that we Americans value most: hard work, optimism, perserverance and honesty. To say that we will miss Vic Carpenter would be correct. But actually, he put so much of himself into Walton-Verona High School over the years that in truth, he will always be here. As long as there is a W-VHS, Vic Carpenter will be alive. This yearbook is lovingly and respectfully dedicated to his memory. 2 A Space of Our Own Contents Seniors.............................8 Classes: 7th Grade 18 8th Grade 20 Freshmen 22 Sophomores 24 Juniors 26 Faculty Administration 31 Academics 36 Clubs Organizations 40 Homecoming.........................56 Sports 58 Graduation 82 Advertising 83 1. But most of us do enjoy our years in school and experience a few rare moments that are so joyous and special that we're changed in some way by them. These we wish to remember forever. At W-VHS in 1984, it is safe to say, many of us encountered some of those rare moments. It is our hope that this book will help you remember them in the years to come. Astronauts have said that they never fully appreciated the beauty of the earth until they left it and looked back on it from the vastness of space. Perhaps that is how it is with our high school years. Looking back on them from the distance of years, we’ll come to see how special and beautiful they really were. 96 The Dawn Staff
