Shelley Kendall and Bernie Spen- cer were winners in an Essay spon- sored by the Disabled Veterans, the title was Handicapped Work- ers--Community Assets. Bernie won 2nd place and Shelley won 3rd place in Northern Kentucky District. Joella Sleet and Dennis Chipman were selected as the winners of the DAR award. They were chosen from the Senior class by the faculty. They were selected on the basis of good citizenship. The award is presented by the Boone County Chapter of the DAR. Martha Robinson won the Spelling Contest for the 7th grade and Cindy McMillian for the 8th grade. These two competed and Cindy won. She then went to Woodward High School for a written test, then to C, G, E. for the Ken- tucky Post and Times Star Spelling Contest. She ranked fifth place and won a Lincoln Library.

Junior High Faculty Mrs. GUI teaches the seventh grade. She received her B.S. from Georgetown Col- lege. Mr. Tyler teaches the seventh grade and is assistant coach to our varsity and junior varsity basketball teams. He received his B.S. from Union College. Mr. Stephenson teaches the eighth grade. He received his A.B. from Eastern State College. Mr. Taylor teaches the eighth grade and Driver Ed. He also coaches our varsity and junior varsity basketbaU teams. He re- ceived his B.S. from Campbellsville Col- lege. II

Shelley Kendall was the winner of the Betty Crocker, American Homemaker of Tomorrow award. She won this award on the basis of a test on which she received the highest grade. The local win- ner competes with other schools for the State Betty Crocker award. Bernie Spencer was selected to represent our school in Select Band. Bernie competed with stu- dents from Northern Kentucky Schools. The Select Band held a concert at Boone County High. Donna Webb was the winner of the Soil Conservation Essay Con- test. It is sponsored by the Louis- ville Courier Journal and the Louisville Times. The school sponsor was Mrs. Beigle. The title of Donna's essay was Soil Conservation and It's Effect On Our Community. 13
