Proceeding to the second grade they found a new member in their midst ln age pgrson of Franklin Hlebert. Teacher for the first and second grades was ss lenn. Entering the third grade they were misfortunate to lose Franklin Hlebert, John David Wright, and Edythe Schmidt, but addedto their number Lewis Tleszen, Carl John Oswald, and Delia Ruxman. Moving along to the fourth grade, June and Juel Dixon were added to their number. Miss Neuman was their teacher for the third and fourth grades. In the fifth grade they lost Harold Burner, Milton Covalt, and Carl John Oswald. They were guided through their classes by Miss Shoffner. In the sixth year the class gained Elgin Hiebert, Ralph and Wayne Hicks, Elmer Frlesen and Franklin Hlebert with Mrs. Yeager serving as teacher. Elgin Hiebert left us as we advanced to the seventh grade. The big event of that year was taking first place at the basketball tourney held at Goessel. Misa Edna Voth was their teacher for that year. In the eighth grade Oswald Schmidt Joined this group for their final year of grade school. Those graduating were Wayne and Ralph Hicks, Betty Unruh, Betty Lou McClure, Edwin Peters, Gelbert Hague, Marvin Esau, Franklin Hiebert, Oswald Schmidt, and Delia Huxman. Their teacher was Mrs. Beardsmore. Thirteen dignified eighth grade graduates became thirteen green little freshmen in September 1944 as they began their role of high school life. The highlights of the year were presentlngthe Senior play, 'Along Came Charl1e', publlshlngthe QQQQL BLUE, editing the school paper, Igg WALTONIAN, and taking their trip. The seniors were active in all the organizations of the school, and the H1-Y and Y-Teen claimed all the members of the class. On May 21, commencement night, they received their diplomas. They were happy to reach the goal they had been working for these past twelve years, yet were sad to see their school days come to a close. r l 4. .5 3 'W .., W. A X' Pc 11-jf ' -fa A' .
