As the year was drawing to a close, I bade farewell to the fair maidens and reluctantly ventured forth. Arriving at the neighboring village, I, with my trusty squire, Sancho Panza, attended a grand tournament of one-act plays in which each term was en- tered. The plays were so extraordinarily wellaacted that it was only after very careful thought that the judges came to the conclusion that the Sixth and Seventh Terms were victorious. These artistic ladies also presented a modern dance recital. I liked all this immensely. For the betterment and benefit of the maidens, a new character, Miss Per- sonality, was introduced. All the damsels of the province were urged to model their actions after those of the most virtuous lady. Sancho Panza thought her as harmonious as my Dulcinea, but I was of a contrary opinion. It was my pleasure to participate in a Iunior Prom, which was the first adventure of its kind that Walton had ever had. And so I perceived that the damsels had indeed enjoyed their third year in the province of Walton. In the fourth and last village which I had the good fortune to enter, I experi- enced my most memorable adventures. In this village I chanced upon a troupe of players, the Curtain Callers, who had a magnificent repertoire, which they presented excellently. I had not traveled far, when I overtook a group of maidens returning from the strange unheard-of land-Staten Island, on what was named the Seventh Term Outing, where they had experienced the most delightful happenings that one can possibly conjecture. After this pleasant event, the fair damsels would defer the execution of their designs no longer, and spurred on by their desires, decided to obtain a helmet or cap to signify their proximfty to attaining their goal--Graduation. Methinks these kind ladies showed much initiative, and to display this particular ability, they inaugurated well-planned student self-government, and showed how wisely and well they could rule. One day Sancho Panza, not wishing to expose himself to the excitement of a multitude of the inhabitants, retired out of their reach and recounted to me the strange and fascinating occurrences of their Red Letter Day-how at an appointed time supper was served up, and they seated themselves at a long table like those in kingly halls, and had a fine time of it. Yea, Class Night, Ivy Day, and the Prom gave me much enjoyment. The inhabitants of this village engaged in many a battle. One day, think- ing thoughts which made them stagger in their purpose, they depressedly took themselves through the most bloody of battlefields-the Regents, However, not many nights soon after, seated in a hall almost drowned in silence, I witnessed the victorious ones being knighted for their achievements. This was the most solemn of ceremonies-the ultimate goal--Graduation. There I long reflected, and thoughts representing fond memories passed through my brain. Sadly I realized that my visit was soon to be at an end. My dear reader, think you not that it was with ease that I reluctantly took leave of this Province of Walton which I had grown to cherish and admire!
