There, my dear reader, I experi- enced such delightfully unique adventures as have never before been revealed -nay, not even in books of knight-errantry. In Walton, I bore witness to a magnificent spectacle which was known as AMERICA AT SCHOOL. As scene after scene of this colorful pageant was presented before my very eyes, methinks I became one of the characters in the plot. I remained for some time motionless in expectation of hearing more, But soon, much grumbling did I hear similar to that of the giants which I had encountered on my preceding adventure. Roused at the din, I journeyed forth to redress the grievances of the fair ladies and learned that they were protesting against the burdensome taxes imposed by the G. O. Council. Ere the moon had shone five times more, the villagers were once more in the great hall where the delightful tale of MONSIELIR BEAUCAIRE aided them to forget their woes, I returned to my excellent steed, Rozinante, and rode on to the adjoining village to see what worthy deeds I might perform in the name of my lady, Dulcinea del Toboso. On my previous travels, I had ever been greeted with merry-making, and therefore did I deem it strange indeed, on my arrival, to find sorrowing damsels who gave nary a thought to me. Upon inquiry, my trusty squire, Sancho Panza, found that the cause of their grief was the death of their beloved governor, Miss Mary A. Conlon, under whose guidance the province had long flourished. However, mirth and gayety were partially restored, as we enjoyed the lively songs and dances of the French Club's presentation of CARMEN, the like of which I had never before seen. All the village soon rejoiced at the arrival of a new governor, Miss Marion C. Cahill. The damsels admired this most charming and energetic leader. After witnessing many dramatic efforts of the ambitious Walton damsels, including I'I.M.S. PINAFORE and QUALITY STREET, I reached the con- clusion that Walton sheltered many future actresses, Sancho Panza agreed. 16
