History of the Sophomore Class ln the year nineteen hundred twenty-six one of the best and largest classes entered Walton High School. After winning the trophy the preceding year we were determined to seek greater paths in the Freshman class. We, as Freshmen, elected officers and selected our class motto, class colors, and class flower. The first great event which we participated in was the Fresh- man reception. The Seniors furnished elaborate entertainment along with a three-course luncheon served by the industrious juniors. The assembly was magnificently decorated by the Sopho- mores. At the event which was a High School Hallowe'en social we. the Freshmen contributed to the High School fund the amount which we took in. Our social career consisted of three parties. The first was a Christmas party at the home of Keith Hyman. The other two parties were at the School house and at Davis Tritt's home. During our Freshman year we lost several members. One member was lost on account of illness. The others moving away made quite a decrease in the class roll. Although we lost quite a few, we also gained a few new members whom we were glad to welcome to the class. Upon entering the Sophomore Class we elected officers, elect- ing Davis Tritt President' Gerald Cotner vice-president' and Edgar Phillips Secretary and Treasurer. Then we appointed Miss Alta Kerr as sponsor of the Sophomore Class. The first social event was the Freshman reception. Our job was to decorate the assembly which we did most magnificently. The evening was enjoyed immensely by everyone. On Hallowe en the Walton High School entered in a Joy Night to which the public was cordially invited. Our class had a Spook Alley and Fish Pond by means of which we contributed the most money to the High School Fund. . The next social event to which we were invited was the Latin Club where we were initiated by our brother classmen the Juniors. .It is our desire that our present number continue their course until graduation.
