Everyone be- ing eager to learn the methods' of procedure we all par- ticipated in everythin set forth for us to do. The first task was to 'entertain the upper classmen and faculty at refreshments' the Sophomores very l eautifully decorated the assenfbly and the Seniors provided us with elaborate tasks to perform. Everyone was entertained and we en- joyed ourselves immensely. Another outstanding fea- ture of that year was our Botany hike to Morgan Hill which was sponsored by Miss Fraser our Botany teacher At the beginning of the next year fifteen of our old class entered as Sophomores and a new member was added whom we all welcomed. The year was passed in hard studies and very few social events. Two members dropped out during vacation and we started the unior year with fourteen members. An in- teresting feature of that year was a junior-Senior class party at the home of Lura and Clay Layman. We also gave the accustomed junior class play, When a Feller Needs a Friend. It went over great and gave good prospects for a Senior play. The largest social event was the unior-Senior reception held in the High School audi- torium April 1O, 1927. We still held the fourteen members, who had shared the hardships and enjoyments of the preceding years, at the beginning of our Senior year. As soon as school was started well, we organized our Annual Staff. Everyone was much interested in seeing a success of the Annual and worked many long and wearisome hours together on it. Thus ends our career in old W. H. S., which we ne'er will forget- LOUISE PREISER. LJ . y 7 ! 0' C the Freshman reception. The Juniors furnished delicious UU , 3 Y O' 1 9 5 y ! After winning the trophy the preceding year we were determined to seek greater paths in the Freshman class. We, as Freshmen, elected officers and selected our class motto, class colors, and class flower. The first great event which we participated in was the Fresh- man reception. The Seniors furnished elaborate entertainment along with a three-course luncheon served by the industrious juniors. The assembly was magnificently decorated by the Sopho- mores. At the event which was a High School Hallowe'en social we. the Freshmen contributed to the High School fund the amount which we took in. Our social career consisted of three parties. The first was a Christmas party at the home of Keith Hyman. The other two parties were at the School house and at Davis Tritt's home. During our Freshman year we lost several members. One member was lost on account of illness. The others moving away made quite a decrease in the class roll. Although we lost quite a few, we also gained a few new members whom we were glad to welcome to the class. Upon entering the Sophomore Class we elected officers, elect- ing Davis Tritt President' Gerald Cotner vice-president' and Edgar Phillips Secretary and Treasurer. Then we appointed Miss Alta Kerr as sponsor of the Sophomore Class. The first social event was the Freshman reception. Our job was to decorate the assembly which we did most magnificently. The evening was enjoyed immensely by everyone. On Hallowe en the Walton High School entered in a Joy Night to which the public was cordially invited. Our class had a Spook Alley and Fish Pond by means of which we contributed the most money to the High School Fund. . The next social event to which we were invited was the Latin Club where we were initiated by our brother classmen the Juniors. .It is our desire that our present number continue their course until graduation. Mr. Hoffner was chosen as sponsor. The class colors are Red and Gold: The class flower, White . Rose. The motto, Rowing, not drifting. By W. H. B. e Freshmen We are a bunch of Freshmen As you can see, Some of us are so dumbj as dumb As we can be. I We entered in twenty-seven, And ended in twenty-eighty We made some good records, For we were'almost always late. Some of us are smart, While some of us are dumb, ' And if we can get our lessons They show us how it's done. After we reached the battle, And they rolled us upon the floor, We classed ourselves as Sophomores For 'we were green no more. By C. R. G.
