1985 Walton Bicentennial 1985 marks the 200th anniversary of the Town of Walton. To publicize the event, a local contest was held to find a Bicentennial logo. I really had fun with the many friends I made here. Thank you to all the people that were so good to me. It was always for me a dream to go to the United States but A.F.S. made it true for me. Thank you all. I will miss you. One year an opportunity came up with A.F.S. and an adventure began. For me it was a wonderful daydream. Because of your helping impression of America, my stay was very good and I really enjoyed it. Thank you very much! I enjoyed my stay and your company a lot! I would like to thank you all for enabling me to gain knowledge about an important part of the world. I hope you also enjoyed my company and could learn about Austria! Always keep In mind that Austria is only 9 hours away! See you some day! I am very happy to be here. When I came here l thought that this would be a difficult and long year. But now I can say that this year Is going very fast and I'm learning many new things. I think that when this year is finished it will be very difficult to say good bye. Every day I give thanks to A.F.S. who gave me the opportunity to enjoy this experience. 16 Exchange Students 17 umojtyj rf DJ' yyoojyrj umy yfo si} y SJOiuas 8I wiwy-wy) gffuuopj U fy v s rfra z f ( ? fe iry Uo a ie {Aofi ue « it e Gui n {f)c or i i „{ ui ( 0 100 1 (art ? u. As Dean of Students you've shown us what the words authority and discipline mean, we have come to respect you for that. For discipline is something we do to our bodies, our minds and our children. It requires commitment, courage, strength of character and time. Though our time here runs out quickly, the impressions you have made, and the memories you have etched in our mind linger on. So with sincere appreciation we salute and honor you Mrs. McGranaghan. Thanks so much. How can we say thanks in a way its never been said before? You have truely shown us your loyalty, spirit, and concern. You've dedicated your time and energy to give us something to remind us of the great memories we’ve all shared here. You have shown us the meaning of the word teamwork spending the long hours after school desperately trying to make a deadline come together. So to you Mrs. Meredith for your many years of true dedication, we dedicate this years book. The class raised over $1,000 for prom from their cookie sales. Although most of us were depressed upon the refusal of the Holiday inn, we are looking forward to having the prom, even if it's in the gym. We are hoping to make it a successful night. Trample the Trojans was the first float that placed for them, and it did it big beating out both the Seniors and the Juniors. You could almost feel the excitement in the air when we ordered our class rings, only to have to wait yet another year until we could wear them as Juniors. As well as participating in sports and other extracurricular activities, the sophomores raised money for future activities by holding dances, and of course, the traditional Servant” day in which class members were auctioned off to the highest bidder for one day of servitude. Even though our Homecoming float didn't come in first, or even second, or third, we showed a lot of class spirit and vowed to get first next year. Our class has been raising some money this year through bake sales. So we thank everyone that has helped to support us this year. Carl Lewis won four gold medals — the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the four 100 meter relay and the long jump. Mary Lou Retton won the all-round gold medal and led the gymnastic team to a silver medal; she also won bronze medals for the floor exercise and the uneven parallel bars and took a silver medal for the vault. The Soviet union and other communist countries boycotted the Summer Olympics.
