SWEEPS INTO FIRST PLACE After the moving-up of classes, the seniors passed down their class personalities to the Class of '80. The end was coming near as the Class of 79 sang their song. Bookends. Most of them didn't know the words, but what do you expect from the last of the '70’s? The last event of the day was the most spectacular. Starting with the Class of '84 and going up to the Class of 80, we filed into the courtyard. From there a very long cornucopia was formed for the seniors to walk through. In all. it was an emotional day, an eventful day, a day we shall remember for a long time. 13

THE BLUE TIDAL WAVE The Moving-Up Day ceremonies of 1979 were anything but peaceful and uneventful. Although it was new and exciting for most of the underclassmen, it was a time of sadness and parting for the seniors. For most of us, it wras the last time we would see them all together. Still, it was fun for everyone. The seniors began with a re-run of their roles in their kindergarten graduation. Dressed in costume, everyone in the class recited poems, danced or sang. Much of this was funny enough to make us weep; some of it was bad enough to make us weep. too. Then it was time for all the classes to move-up to their new seats. The most impressive move was the one provided by the Class of '80. The entire class, dressed in matching blue t-shirts, resembled a great tidal wave as they moved into their justly deserved spot: first place in the newly acquired senior section.

The theme of our Junior-Senior Prom this year was Just the Way You Are. Although the band. Tight Squeeze, had never played it before, they pulled it off quite well with two hours of practice beforehand. Most of the audience was impressed by this nine-piece band and its music. The prom committee did a great job this year. The Class of 80 should feel proud that they had so many people volunteer their time and effort. The decorations outside, down the hall and in the gym were superb. Although the streamers drooped low by the time of the crowning, the magical effect still remained. u
