f OREUJORO All Things Come to Him Who Waits If ever there was a school to which the quotation used above is applicable, Walton Central must be high on the list. We in Walton have waited for years, but the ye rs of 1953 and 195U have shown that our waiting has at last borne fruit. Like all other schools, the physical plants of the school have been overtaxed by the increased school population. As is evident from the pictures above we now have a school garage, housing besides buses, the agriculture and shop classes, and an addition to the Townsend School to alleviate overcrowding in the grades. What then, you may ask, has the high school reaped from waiting? Not a new building for sure, but a fresher atmosphere due to athletic and scholastic achievement. We have waited and have kept building through the lean years until in 1953 our tennis, basketball, and football teams reached the heights. Who expected us to have sectional champions in tennis? We knew we were finally reaching our goal in basketball. Our football team looked very sharp, but who would have expected them to go through a season unscored-upon? Scholastically we were pleased and gratified at receiving three state scholarships in last year s graduating class. Yes, we have waited and persevered. It wasn't easy being a have-not among the haves. Now we have something to shout about. We salute the Walton Central School in 1953 and 195k - the years of fruitfulness.

Since 19hO, except while he was on duty with the United States Any, Mr. Popp has given much time and effort in teaching the students of Walton Central better sports- manship. Through these years he has coached the basket- ball and baseball teams} we are now experiencing champion- ship basketball at Walton Central. Mr. Popp has much concern for the student and his problems, so to Mr. Popp, for his interest in others, for his friendliness and kindness, his excellent advice, and his readiness to help others this yearbook for 195U is dedicated.
