Miracle Worker You Devil! One of the first productions of this school year was The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, depicting Helen Kel- ler's life. Directed by Mrs. Karen DeMauro, the cast gave a very moving and sensitive performance which brought to light much unsuspected talent among the juniors and sopho- mores. Particularly exceptional were the convincing perform- ances turned in by Lois Con- rad and Martha Meade in the starring roles. For these rea- sons, The Miracle Worker was entered in competition for the Moss Hart Memorial Trophy. y r l Q V . - Z , I W ,Sq - ' lk F,I Eg ii. c? 1, X Q-- A ,. DRAMA DEPARTMENT. Thereis no business like show business! Mr. Robert Eagle CDirect0rJ , Mrs. Karen DeMauro Drama Department The drama department has given students an opportunity to succeed in an area where the traditional academic skills are not needed for achievement. Drama is not solely an art formg many of the skills en- tailed in acting can be used in other dis- ciplines also. The increased enrollment in this area has demonstrated a need for specialized courses which are now being offered. This very young department hopes to continue to improve on the already fine facilities as well as to satisfy the stu- dents' demands for more productions both in the classes and on an extracurricular basis. The future offers distinct possibili- ties that many former graduates will re- turn to work in this most enriching field.
