PEP CLLB The girls trom the oth through the 12th grades met and organized their Pep Qfg1H1Z1I1QH tor the school year of 47 Q8 Oflicers for the veir were elected as tollows President Jo Nell Woorman lice President barbara sue lavlor oecx lreas btella Phillips sponsor Wise lnez Rothwell Co Sponsor hiss Tillie lo a e lt was decidel thtt the Sell lcadtrs shwull bt elected ont lrou each clas lhet were Ann sttiptr senior bwen orines Junior lune Koller Sophomore lettt loorman lreshuan an the name DEVILhTThs which was derived from Nalters Blue Devils was chosen Uniforms of navy blue pleated skirts and navy blue sweaters Wllh Devilettes written in white across the front were selected The leaders uniforms were white with blue lettering lhe most spectacilar event of football season was the crowning of the Queen, where each Devwlette marched with a nember of the football souad fOllOWlHg a beautiful blue and white tloat upon which the Queen s throne was mounted The Devilettes are a peppv group of girls that furnished plenty of pep for both football and basketball seasons Next fall when back at W H b the Devilettes will be backing their team with the same pep and loyalty that has made this year the most out standing in the history of the Pep Clubs at Walters High WALTERS H S BAND The d D band now consisting of 57 members has spent quite an active year under the direction of Wrs Marguerite Smith They played and performed stunts at the half of all home football games Their first trip out of town was to a football game at Tipton Later in the fall they attended a Band festival at Nichita Falls, and made a very good showing ln December they went to Lawton and helped out that neighboring town in celebrating Industrial Week there The last of January they gave a nice Band Concert to a very large and attentive crowd Also that month they played for a county teacher's meeting, and put on an assembly program In February they went to Hardin College for a two day Band clinic Much was learned there and a very good time was had by all, especially those who were lucky to be guests of Wichita millionaires March came and we went to a Band contest at Waurika where many individual Band students won several first, second and third ratings In marching out Band placed third 1B Class B division, which 1sn't bad for a young band. ppQn-un-qgggl lv'-nuts-n ix li- JG- 52. 1 5 r'.1' du ,S THE GIRLS' GLBE CLUB OF WALTERS HIGH SCHOOL The Girls' Club with a membership of thirty, contains a great deal of talent and leadership.Much of the program material forchapels and service clubs have been taken from this group. They all participated in the annual Christmas Cantata, HTHE WONDROUS STORYH, and the Easter Cantata, EASTBRTIDEH, by either singing in the chorus or performing in the pageants. On May nth, these girls sang in the Conference Music Festival at Harlow. The officers for the first and second semesters respectively, were: Presidents: Janice Reynolds and June Mershon. Vice Presidents: Peggie Sorrow and Jo Nell Moorman.
