CLASS HISTORY OF 14 On a beautlful September mornmg 1910 our class of promxslng pupxls entered the Freshman Class of the W H S wlth the defermmatlon to make tl'e Class of 14 the best class that W H S had ever produced or ever wlll produce As Freshmen we showed greater ablhty than the average Freshman Elasg and consequently great thmgs were expected of us and we have not ax e At the begmmng of the Sophomore year when the roll was called sev eral of our stars falled to answer Thxs was mdeed a blow to the class but nn splte of thrs we struggled on and soon developed more ln qualxty rn the class than we had lost ln ouantxty Hence no one was surprmsed when a number of our accomphshed members were represented ln the Senior Play of 12 The Iunxor year dawned and It seemed as lf rn the dxstance we saw our Star of Hope formmg the flvures 1 9 1 4 wrth Z2 as thelr background We were st1ll chmbmg the ladder of fame w1th out eyes ever on the Star of Hope Durmg thls year two more talented tudents were admxtted 1nto the class one of whlch was wxth us only three months the other lS st1ll w1th us and has added much mer1t to our class We as a class took an lmportant part m all the school movem nts At the :lose of thas year s happmess and pros perrtv we declded to gxve the Semors a banquet The Sophomores ln order to place the1r 1deals of greatne s m the how wxndo s Qwhxch we confess they dxdb planned to prevent us from mal no a su ss of the entertamrnent After several vam attempts to bluff the Iumors th r nerve falled them and nn tl e fa e of defeat they rssued a call for xolunt e Tn a few hours the volun teers outnumbered the Sophomores Whlle the Seniors and unlors were emoymg the evenmg they stole the turkey But the sad part of It IS that the volunteers recexved the honors whxle well the poor Sophomores had to con 'ess that they could not hold the1r o Jn wrthout ald for whlch we had strxven for three lonv years Thls was perhaps one of the happxest days of our entlre Hxgh School hfe On thls mornmg our Star of Hope was brlghter than ever before VVe had developed our talent each year untxl now we were able to take tWlCC the amount of work that an average student rad been requxred to take Our cornposxtwon vork was su h that Profe or Pearl was really aston1shed at our abmty But we dxd not for one day rr 1 'lt the s hool to forvet that we were Semors Each dav we produced a new remmder The three best were FIFSY the class play whlch was started nthout a conference wlth Professor Pearl and the Board Second was our boys famous leap frog game rn the Assembly Hall whve the tea hers were absent and Th1rd was the noted Aprll Fool stunt for whlch a number of th cl'1 s recelved a few davs vacat1on Our last but not least accomplmshrnent was the pubhshmg of our H1 h School Annual THE RAMBLER As thns was somethme new everyone became very much mterested but the responslbxllty rested upon the Semox Class Havlng developed our natural abllxtv the work was easlly accom ph hed The talent that had been present ln the former years reached 1ts clxmax ln the Senlor play We as a class have always been loyal kxnd hearted and true loyal to our chool and teachers kxnd to our fellow students and true to our class thereby wmmng the favor of all our teachers Thxs noted year cannot be passed w1thout the mentxon of those excellent muslc and Moral hfe whxch were rendered by Prof Pearl lectures upon The end of thxs year marks our fnrst separation we are now to enter mto h onsxble aths of hfe But when we thmk that the world was not t e more resp p made 1n a day It does not seem that we have traveled mn hfe That Star of l d H whlch we fxrst beheld rn our Freshman year has become c oser an brlfgliter untxl now we behold lt ln all 1ts splendor sheddmg 1ts glorlous rays upon us and beckomng us on to a hlgher goal - A X .
