Hasn't this been the most wonderful of all? It seems like only yesterday that the doors of ol1 Walter boro High opened in September and the mad confusion began-- renting lockers and those numerous books, eyeing the new teachers , and, especially, getting back to all those long lost friends. Elated as we were , we realized that summertime--the time when the living is easy —was over and that the time had come to devote our time to our studies. With the starting of school came football season, one that we will long remember. For the first time in years we had a winning team! October brought exciting games and Homecoming. How hard those seniors worked to make it a wonderful reunion for the Class of '49 ! Our first holidays came in November- - Thanksgiving. What a relief it was to be free of our responsibilities for a few days I Next came the merriest month of the entire year, De- cember. To add to the gaiety of the Christmas season, the juniors presented their Class Play. Remember how great we thought they all were? Hardly had the strains of Auld Lang Syne faded, when into the picture came that necessary evil -- EXAMS ! February brought in basketball season. Although not all of us played on the team, we still had loads of fun going to the games, pulling for the Wildcats , and, at times, even playing on our own! Ah, holidays again! This time there were Spring holidays which came in March. Wasn't it wonderful just to loaf and enjoy life ? . Then came April and the social event of the year, the Junior--Senior. The Juniors worked and really gave the seniors an affair to remember . Last minute book reports, second semester exam cram- ming, excitement and envy caused by the Senior trip, and the elated dignity of graduation--this was May. Thus ends the year of ,58--,59--a year filled with delight- ful memories, a year that will be remembered always as THE BEST YEAR OF OUR LIVES. ALMA MATER Angelst guard our Alma Mater From the skies of bine; Guard and guide our footsteps ever Firm and strong and true. We will e'er uphold thy standards - Honor Iove1 and truth; Pledge our hearts our hands, and voices, Loyalty and youth. Chorus: Forward! ever be our watchword, Conquer and prevail; Hail to thee, our Alma Mater, W. H. S all hail! SCHOOL PRAYER May every thought we think today and everything we do and say. Be worthy of the folks we love and worthy of our God above. Amen. THE BEST YEAR as spent by SEPTEMBER . ♦ . getting back to all those long lost friends. . . OCTOBER . . . we had a winning team. . .
