Carol Thompson, secretary, Bill Hayden, president, Yukon Huang, vice-president, SOPHOMCDRES Class spirit-they certainly have it! Of course We mean the Class of '62, for they will be remem- bered for their pep. Where did it start? No doubt from their need for defense in the face of senior privileges, from a need to present a unified front When upperclassmen broke into the lunch line or directed them upstairs for gym. This class consciousness was increased by sharing subjectsg bio and English 2 were universal evils as far as the sophomores were concerned. Formal organization was the next step in as- similating the graduates of the surrounding junior highs. Election of officers, under auspices of SCA, instituted the class council. These leaders tried their Wings by holding a class dance and soared to great heights-financial and moral. Strong as their own organization Was, these sophomores knew isolationism was impractical and each section elected a representative to student council. These leaders kept their sections informed of SCA activities and encouraged them to support dances, publications, games, plays, and welfare drives. As intimate participants in council affairs, the reps gained experience chairing temporary committees and representing WJ at regional SCA meetings. Thus the sophomore class finished the year with name and reknown,Class of '62, an enthusiastic class, a class with strong leaders. CLASS COUNCIL Mr. Burke explains the facts of Biology I to Lucy Leonard with Bruce Fincham and Denny Gamble all ears Introduced to their first Beat Barons Rally, the sopho- mores see the opponent hanged
