Standing: Robert Johnson, Libby Brown, Frank Cady, Wayne ee emyer Ju CLASS COUNCIL Juniors found themselves right in the middle, between sophomore problems of adjustment and senior fears of finding a place in the college world. This pleasant equilibrium was not at all dull, there were new horizons, particularly in the acade- mic field. Electives-journalism, dramatics, public speaking, higher maths and sciences-were open to interested upper classmen. l Ken Colburn substitutes a brush for his camera Second year at WJ was a happy time for reaping rewards-Natignal Hongy Sgcietyy Thegpiangy Quill Mr. Breedlove stretches an experimental finger for Dianne and Scroll-all recognized the Class of '61 in their inductions. Edwards and Kay Stein Through the class council, more active than in the experimental stages of the first year, status sym- bols, the class rings, were secured. Before the council could operate extensively, a financial backlog had to be provided. By selling plastic covers for the Windup and by vending WJ pennants, the class council not only performed a service to all the WJ students but managed to drop a thin carpet over the bottom of its coffers. The acme of the junior projects, a prom honor- ing the seniors, all but eclipsed a class dance held early in the spring. The prom, a tribute to the sen- iors, proved also to be a tribute to the juniors' sense of organization, creating thus an appropriate end to the middle of the road year. j
