Where else but in WJ could a herd of cattle amble down the front road on a peace visit from their meadows just across the front lawn? This friendly interlude, which required sum- moning a half dozen unmounted cowboys to es- cort them back, took place during our sophomore year. That phenomenon having dominated the front meadow, in a back pasture not cut off by a fence but designated the football field, we screamed ourselves hoarse over our football team which romped on completely victorious for its second straight year. Having outgrown the calf state, we waltzed into our junior year, where, fixing our wishful stares on the new addition, we brought our reflec- tive eye to bear on academic achievement and our social growth. Evaluation found us striving to present our cow palace in the best light possible, for it en- tailed a thorough examination of all aspects of the school. Except for the library, which had too few volumes, all departments were rated out- standing in its comparison with the other schools in the Middle States Association. Then all of a sudden, lo and behold, we were seniors. We found ourselves trampled underfoot, for the enrollment, having risen from 1100 to 1300 to 1662 in three years, put us in need of the sixteen-room addition which wasn't ready until mid-winter. As seniors we were caught in a web of underclassmen the first half of the year. The high point in November was school spirit week which greatly boosted the morale of our football team and culminated, to our delight, in the defeat of B-CC on November 13. College acceptance caused the usual anxiety this year, but in no time at all, graduation was here with all of us bound either for college or for jobs. Before us now lies new terrain upon which we have to tread tentatively but with growing con- fidence to test its solidity and our strength. Y
