Richardson FUTURE NURSES OE AMERICA Sue Derr carries out a depressing job Mrs. Gretchen Bloch, nurse ACILLI CANN T WI What better place to practice the art of mal- ingering during exam time than in the health room, basking in the attention of the nurse, Mrs. Gretchen Bloch? This question is not rhetoricalg pretenders turned out of the health room urgently seek the answer. It is not, however, to deal with malingerers that the Montgomery County Public Health De- partment employs Mrs. Bloch, she administers eye, ear, and tuberculin tests, keeps health re- cords up to date, and counsels in health problems. Freed by ten girls Who spend a period every day taking over her duties as receptionists, Mrs. Bloch is on call in emergencies. Mrs. Bloch sponsors the Future Nurses Club to inform interested girls of the various aspects of her profession. tx fx 'S Nw' igrryfxfwvm I---5 x J lp, 1

BQCDKS BREED BIBLICDPHILE Miss Teresa J. Mrs. Dorothy G. Doherty Bryant Librarian Librarian Library Club! W! fy Y' ' fvxlfllcx X , Nxff Y fyls D' wx ' WMU 9-UAi'VVxl u 'Dk Stag! LIBRARY CLUB That books breed bibliophilesn is demonstrated every lunch hour and before school when one sees the library crammed with crammers. Judging by an aver- age of 156 books Withdrawn daily, We should almost think the school to be populated exclusively by book- worms. The accreditors from the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges rated WJ outstand- ing in every department except the library, apparent- ly subscribing to this theory of bibliophile breeding, for they stated, We recommend that special atten- tion be given to . . . further expansion of the book col- lectionf' Acting on the evaluators' recommendation, the PTA appropriated 32,500 for the purchase of books. The American Association for the Advancement of Science, too, made a generous if temporary contribu- tion to increase the number of volumes by lending us an extensive science library for this entire year. Stu- dents thus have had access to specific sciences rang- ing from aeronautics to Zoology. Miss Teresa Doherty and Mrs. Dorothy Bryant, librarians, cater to these ardent readers, depending heavily upon their student assistants, each of Whom devotes an hour a week to library Work. Sponsored by Mrs. Bryant and Miss Doherty, the Library Club supplements the daily Work of the assist- ants by carrying out projects like bulletin board dis- plays.
