What are your oldest heirlooms? Grandpa's Civil War saber? Every day We use heirlooms more ancient than that. The Words that We use for everyday things have all been handed down to us for aeons. The striking similarity between Dafef, vater, padre, and pere results from the fact that they all descended from a common Indo-European language which originated thousands of years ago, giving us a tie with many nations of the World. We all have the opportunity to study another language. Oldtimers Latin, French and Spanish, plus German, which was taught at Walter Johnson for the first time this year, are offered to students who want to extend their speech to include the tongue of another country. Working outside of class time, the Latin, French, and Spanish Clubs follow similar methods of pur- suing knowledge of their respective languages. In- cluded in their activities was a jaunt to a native restaurant Where the members ordered their food in their best foreign accent. ACQ AIN e, . 3 we ! C ,M -1- .
