Constance P. h l With the eyes of the nation focused on science, WJ's science department Was proud to be able to offer a gamut of courses in its field. For the biology students interested in furthering their knowledge of plants beyond the basic under- standing from their courses, the new Horticulture Club offered experience in greenhouse Work, plant propagation, rooting, and grafting. Members of the two Biology Clubs also reached beyond the limita- tions of the classroom but their club interests de- veloped aspects different from those of the horti- culturist. In another sphere, especially interested chemis- try or physics students--or other students desiring experience in this field-could join the Chemistry or Physics Clubs to learn more about the philosophy of these sciences. The Physics Club met in designat- ed groups before and after school as Well as during club periods, thus making it possible for some stu- dent scientists to join more than one club. The great range of subjects offered by the Science Department and supplemented by the accompaning clubs gives the science student a Wide enough back- ground so that he may choose his niche in the scientific world.
