IS PERVASIVE AND PERSUASIVE scene. This seldom seen branch of the Dramatics Club D91'fO1'ms the inglorious but necessary duties for a successful production. For the literary literates, Quill and Scroll exists as an international honorary society. When a chapter is granted a school, publication advisers automatically become members, but it is not that simple for student candidates. Membership is based on individual achievement and meritorious work in some phase of journalism and is the ulti- mate in journalistic accolade. Also wielding their quills were the members of the Reporters Club. Not only did they possess fluent pens, but also glib salesmanship. The face behind the beseeching cry Buy ya papuh! probably belonged to a member of the Reporters Club, for it was their job to promote sales and subscriptions for the Pitch. Watch out, spectator! There's the windup. Here comes the pitch I While publishing the Pitch, journalism students learn among other things to express themselves in the journalistic style of writing required by a newspaper and to incorporate successfully this un- derstanding with what they have learned in their English classes. Similarly, students on the yearbook staff, par- ticularly those writing copy, depend heavily on their literary dexterity and background in English com- position to produce the Windup which appears each une. Our literary magazine possesses attributes of both the yearbook and the newspaper, for it is published yearly as the Spectator and also each month in the form of mimeographed sheets appropriately named the Steeles. In the production of all these publications, basic English plays an important part, for only through exact and honest use of our language can true com- munication take place. 1 OF ASSOCIATIO First row: Lynn Yost, art editor: Ken Colburn, photography editor, Louise Hoch, copy editor: Charlotte Shapiro, business editor: Gail Yano, editor-in-chiefg Leslie Linebarger, assistant to the editor, Felicity Payne, managing editor: Bill Roe, assistant to the editor.
