ju' . auf., Executive Council When the evaluating committee came around the SCA room sixth period, they found the Executive Council busily dis- cussing the projects and problems of the student body. The Council, guided by Miss Elizabeth Brown, met every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Among their duties were those of planning and executing Representative Council legis- lation, passing emergency legislation, and making up the social calendar, which they did last summer. Elected the previous spring, the Exec- utive Council is composed of officers and committee chairmen chosen by these officers to represent the entire student body. Presidi 1 over the Executive and Representative 'founcils was Jud Pear- son, president. As vice-president, Bob Van Nice was head of the Co-ordinating Council and chairman of the Activities Committee. School activities ranging from art to woodworking were under his jurisdiction. The recording secretary, Susie All- stetter, kept minutes of all Representa- tive and Council meetings. She presented her minutes in mimeographed form to the homeroom representatives and also kept a file of SCA business. An orderly account of all finances was kept by Ed Ganz, the treasurer, who headed the Financial Committee. One of the com- mittee's jobs was a careful examination of the club treasury accounts. Signs of embezzlement were their specialty, but fortunately they found none. The corresponding secretary, Evy Leonard, was very busy letting everyone know all about WJ since she was also Out-of-School Publicity chairman. eff' ,. ' fn .w,. The Council, headed by Jud Pearson, Student Coun- cil president, is composed of the homeroom representatives and mem- bers of the Executive Council. As the main connection between the faculty and the student body it is one of the most important organi- zations in the school. All games, dances, SCA or club projects-in fact, any school regulation made - must be passed upon by the Council. The Representative Council gives each stu- dent a chance to express his ideas to improve Walter Johnson and is run by the students, though its affairs are subject to the approval of the admin- istration. Its faculty adviser is Miss Elizabeth Brown. The officers are the Executive Council. An important part of the Student Council is the Co-ordinating Council. Consisting of delegates from each club, publication, and service organi- zation, plus the sergeant-at-arms and parliamentarian of the Student Coun- cil, its purpose is to regulate the activ- ities of the organization in school.
