Service is their main objective, and they may be depended upon in just about any situation. Take, for instance, their way of saying, Merry Christmas to the unfortunate child- ren in Suburban Hospital who could not spend their vacation at home. Stockings filled to the brim with Christmas candy were made and distributed among the children, who greeted them with enormous grins. The officers who have served this year are Bonnie Sweeny, president, Nancy Schieck, vice-president, Janet Clark, secretary, Ellen Fairbanks, treasurer, Marsha DuBois, chap- lain, Betty Mider, historian, Olivia Bland, representatives to the Coordinating Council, and Judy Grooms, parliamentarian. Sophomore Tri Hi-Y Each year the Sophomore Tri Hi-Y, in accordance with its goals of service to the school and community, undertakes helpful projects. At Christmas, members of the club helped the Montgomery County Christmas Bureau by manning collection booths. Located at several places in the surrounding area, these booths were for collection of money, food, and clothes for Christmas needs. President Carol Johnson was backed up by JoNeIl Monaco, vice-president, Becky Michos, secretary, and Sally Moriarity, treasurer. Sally Holzberg served as chaplain, Linda Warring- ton was sergeant-at-arms, and Julie Larson, Tri Hi-Y historian. I ' ' Y Senior Tri Hi-Y The Senior Tri Hi-Y is a chapter of the national Tri Hi-Y, an affiliate of the local YMCA. The aims of this organization are to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character. Attainment of this goal is amphasized through fellowship, cit- izenship, and public service. Supporting a needy family has been the club's primary social service project, At Christmas time they contributed canned food and clothes to their adopted family and gave them a Christmas dinnerg at Easter, they again provided a dinner. Raising money for their many worthwhile projects is a major problem. To help solve this, some of the girls made cookies and gave a bake sale in front of the Grand Union. Another money-making activity was Fash- ion Flair, a soring fashion show sponsored by a popular Bethesda clothing store. The girl who did the best job of modeling was chosen by a panel of judges which included Mrs. Jane Roaers, the club's sponsor, and two teachers. This year's Senior ri Hi-Y's officers were Sue Evans, presidentg Judy Wueste, vice- president, Diane Jerome, treasurerg Penny Pflager, secretary. v ,wi aj FlXStll0N ,J u TRI-HM, w 9 B l Sliilx S 5 SAALKEE X we L QYN QDQCQBWQW X Senior Tri Hi-Y First row: Lynn O'Dell Barbara Bradley, Ruthie Ballentine, Diane Jerome, Doris Horecker, Bonnie Jump, Joan Palce, Betty Schumalcer Middle: Judy McCullough, Sue Evans, Sue Newell, Barbara Schreiber, Betsy Hurt, Stacey Lamond, Zulienne Cifala, Joan Fournier, S L.a H 'll ' J ' , ' , , , , -li-Berry?
