The Photography Club ketball games, assemblies, and other school functions probably belonged to a member of the Photography Club. Supplying the Windup and the Pitch with appropriate photos was one of the primary aims of this practically indis- pensable club. Although First Vice-principal William Ben- nett, club sponsor, was able to supply some apparatus, a lack of funds to buy the much- needed equipment and chemical supplies re- mained a major concern. During the meetings, members discussed developing and photographic techniques and criticized photos taken by members. This year the club also sponsored several contests for its members, A topic, views of the school, was chosen on which competitors, including Mr. Bennett, took pictures. At a later meeting the photos were compared and discussed. The officers this year were Brad Welfare, president, John Mittendorf, vice-president, and Jack Taggart, secretary-treasurer. 554231: Jcl?rr1BE:1g:-ggw, Bob Bessio, Dave Specht, Jack Taggart, Ken Colburn, Michael Woodwgrking Standing: Brad Welfare, John Mittendorf The Woodworking Club now in its third year of existence, helps teach the skills of wood craftsmanship to its members. Sponsored by shop teacher, James D. Brammer, this club uses the facilities found in the school wood shop for its projects. ln addition to learning the safe methods of using the various power and hand tools, rnern- bers make many attractive and useful objects which they may keep. By working on pieces themselves, they begin to appreciate the amount of labor necessary to make a finished piece of work. They have also discovered that woodworking is a fascinating and instructive hobby, one which many will want to continue after graduation. Made up of students interested in the actual staging of productions, the group under the direction of John Stout takes care of such back-stage activities as raising and striking sets, controlling the lights and sound effects, and handling the curtain and make-up. ln addition, some of the thirty-four members of the group sell tickets, act as ushers, and prepare and distribute the programs, Chorley Grubb, chairman, and Marilyn Pollack, vice-chairman, presided over this year's meetings. Dramatics-Acting Fantasia, the biggest land onlyi variety show of the year is one of the main projects of the Dramatics Club. Working with Production, members of the Acting division of the club lend a hand with publicity, tickets, and all the other necessary production jobs. Profits from the show go directly into the combined clubs' treasury. Working independently, the Acting group learned about the technique of stage pres- ence from Miss Janet M. Coulson, their club sponsor, The officers of the club were also the officers of the Thespians: Bill Mullinix, pres- ident, Sally Chaney, vice-president, Gretchen Golze, scribe, Jean Dickey, treasurer, and Joy West, Clerk. ,-.q--1- fllllllva ellis Q' 1 Future Homemakers of America Rumors to the effect that the Martians have landed are false. Those people walking around school wearing beanies, singing songs, and re- peating creeds were merely Future Homemak- ers going through their initiation ordeal. lf you think a college freshman has it rough, you should have seen these girls! Perhaps they got their ideas after listening to stories of Christmas in Sweden with the clowns, goblins, and what have you. lt sounds unusual, but these stories came straight from the horse's mouth, a speaker from the Swedish embassy. And on St. Patrick's Day, the speak- er, very naturally, came from Ireland. You might wonder what Christmas in Swe- den or St. Patrick's Day in Ireland has to do with homemaking. The girls in Future Home- making feel that promoting friendlier rela- tions at home, at school, in the community, and abroad is just as important as knitting, cooking and sewing. With Miss Shirley Corkran sponsoring, Di- ane Schroeder at the helm, Carole Ingalls, vice-president, Missy Surface, secretary, and Joanne Keller, treasurer, comprising the crew, the Future Homemakers Club sailed through a successful year. Where the first FHA was mainly seniors and juniors, the second chapter was all sopho- mores. Although following the senior lead, they did reserve some plans and activities for themselves, such as running a Christmas toy drive and planning a spring picnic for the members and their families. Mrs. Wanda Waddell was club sponsor, executives were Kay Gilley, president, Nada Ebel, vice-presi- dent, Diane Lowe, secretary, and Peggy Mes- sick, treasurer. iv Kneeling: Linda Vettori, Janet Stringer, Carol Gibbs, Peggy Brady l Seated: Peggy Meadows, Gayle Peterson, Joanne Keller, Missy Surface, Carole Ingalls, Diane Schroeder, Linda Jean Marraffa, Charlotte Shapiro Standing: Sue Thompson, Diane Dickerson, Penny Graham, Kathy Boeglen, Carol Qlson, Carol Reid, Louise Druckemiller, Jane Martin, Karen Viano, Bobbie Foster, Candy Kaiser, Gladys Christian, Joan Schumaker, Sue Chase, Jean Mumaw Missing: Bonnie Brooks, Barbara Bicknell, Janet Vance, Dee Walton Junior-Senior Future Homemakers Sophomore Future Homemakers Kneeling: Frances Archambault, Jean Simms, Mickie Martin, Patty Harrison, Carmen van Druff Seated: Sandy Gleazer, Pat Fennimore, Nada Epel, Peggy Messick, Diane Lowe, Kay Gilley, Elaine Vinograd, Anne Pinch Standing: Madelyn Mclntire, Janet Heydenburg, Valerie Rowley, Dianne McNeil, Roxana Knott, Sue Gaarden, Mrs. Waddell, Sharon Houlihan, Dorothy Weber, Edith Martin, Mary Desoimean, Linda Jean Waddell, Carol Van Arnam, Betty Richelson, Linda Bell, Virginia Li, Nancy McDaniel 3 VW I 1 lY!1Ie.
