The honor of membership in the National Junior Honor Society has never diminished and the goals of this society make that evident. The goals of the. Falconette chapter are To create enthusiasm for scholarship to stimulate a desire to serve, to promote leadership, and to instill exemplary qualities of character in the students of Walter F. George High School. Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Bolin, English teachers a t George, sponsor the Falconette chapter of the Nation- al Junior Honor Society. The qualifications for membership are exhibition of superior qualities of scholar- ship character citizenship, leadership, and service. What do you say, Mr. Bones?? After a slow start last year, the Science Club has built a solid organization, affiliated with the national organization, Science Clubs of America. The goal of the Science Club is To increase the knowledge of science, to learn to perfect skills in sci- ence, to offer service in our community and nation, to understand the importance of science in the lives of individuals, and to help earn ' out the program of Science Clubs of America. All club members must have a B average in science courses at- tempted and an overall grade average of C . Members who are Juniors and Seniors must be taking or have taken at least one elective course in science. Mrs. Reese, a biology teacher in her fourth year at George, sponsors this twenty- member club. Officers are president, Michael Etter; vice-president, Bennie Amerson ; secretary, Sydney Anderson ; and treasurer, Steve Maddox. And what we have here . This years club, composed of forty-five juniors and seniors, have an academic average of 3.4 or above and have been recommended by the faculty for membership. The senior members accomplishments will be further esteemed when they wear special cords at the com- mencement exercises.
