Alec Jones presents his sales talk to Miss Hice trying to make the club ' s candy fund raising project a success. In order to further their knowledge of Spanish countries, people, and cus- toms, the Spanish Club has staged en- richment activities. A Christmas party was held at the home of club presi- dent, Peggy Walker. Highlights of the party were carols sung in Spanish and Spanish food. Other officers include second year students Marsha Winn, who is vice president, and Harriet Black, secre- tary. First year student, Gary Hol- comb, is club treasurer. The club, numbering 35, is sponsored by the new Spanish teacher, Miss Smithberg. Plans for sponsoring a dance, and a bake sale at Greenbriar Shopping Center are in the future as fund rais- ing activities.

French Club Studies French Language, Customs, and Culture. French club meetings often held at members ' homes provided opportunities to view films, sing songs and present skits all in French. Miss Nash spon- sors the club with a membership of fifty French students. Many students who have finished their French courses continue to belong to the club to further their knowledge of French culture. Club officers are Peggy Patton, Barry Welsh, Nancy Eidson, Cindy Lance, and Jackie Cavender. With this greet- ing the Latin Club welcomed its members to an especially active school year. The Slave Day initi- ation added some thirty new mem- bers to the club and after the Initi- ation Banquet, held the same eve- ning at the Instructional Services Center, the slaves entertained their masters with a talent show. The first year students, using their growing skills, serenaded many classes with carols in Latin before the Christmas holiday. Another banquet is being planned for club members in the spring. The only requirement for mem- bership is passage of one quarter of Latin. The club membership, numbering fifty-five, is led by President Steve Maddox. The other officers include Vice-Presi- dent, Susan Croft ; Secretary, Jeanie Bundy ; and Treasurer, Kay Camp- bell. The Latin teacher, Miss Bar- bara Granade, is the sponsor. Masters and slaves enjoy annual event. 4S
